Hi, I am a owner of a Reloop Jockey 3 Remix. I would like to upgrade from Pc to Mac. I am planning to get a brand new Macbook pro 13inch no Retina Display. My idea doing this is to have a solid, reliable, compact, portable dj system. But here my questions, I have been reading on the internet that Mac and Jockey 3 Remix are not compatible due to the USB 2.0 to 3.0 connection. I see that this problem is there since 2012 and apparently nobody comes up with a solution. To me a 2.0 active Hub is not a solution at all, but a messy patch. Do i need to download an app to my mac for ixpand.

We are talking about Apple and Reloop both prestigious companies whose solutions are supposed to be professional as the prices of their products are. So, do you know any real solution or anybody who is working fine with this configuration? What is the current status of this problem, is any solution coming soon? Have other controller manufacturers succeed in solving this issue? If not, what would be your advice: carry on using Pc, selling the Jockey 3 Remix as it is obsolete (actually it has been already released obsolete) for modern computers. Please let me know your opinion.

Many thanks in advance! The Jockey 3 Remix was build with a special protocol in place as this was necessary to circumvent some loopholes that are actually there because of Traktor (or Native Instruments if you will). Hence it is one of the rare controllers that actually needs a driver on the Mac. Now the driver protocol relies heavily on the USB 2 protocol and thus it seems there is no fix for USB 3 Macs (or PCs for that matter) other than a powered USB 2 hub. So this is due to design and as far as we can tell working as intended. All newer reloop controllers (Terminal Mix 8, Beatmix 2 and 4,) run nicely on USB 3, but they are mainly build for Serato of course.

So what you would like to do is a little bit up to you. I would actually not worry much about a USB 2 hub, a 10 bucks tool that can fix my problems is an easy fix and when you decide to upgrade to another controller the problem will go away by itself. Also USB 2 is more than fast enough for midi and the hub will give you added possibilities (like charging your phone while DJing hehe). Thanks so much for replying. As far as I have understood, there is no solution on the way. What I cannot understand is how Reloop could release this product in 2013 with such a problem, taking into account the Macs have the USB 3.0 since 2012 and the problem was already known from Jockey ME. At least Native Instruments announced they are working close with Apple to fix the S4 as soon as possible, but Reloop says nothing.

I need to think about it because I would really like to get the Mac but I really dont like the hub because that means an extra device plus cables plus an extra plug. There ase still many Pcs which come with one USB 2.0.

If somebody else has any other idea/oppinion please let me know.
