Trying To Load Office 2016 For Mac And Delete Office 365 For Mac But Office 365 Will Not Delete
I am at a loss, literally an entire folder full of thousands of emails, gone. User is on a Mac using the latest version of Outlook and he stores all of his email once he is done with it in one folder and it suddenly vanished. Not believing and assuming he moved it or its sitting in the deleted folder I add myself as to his mailbox as full access and loud it into my Windows Outlook. I expand every folder nothing, I go to the Deleted folder and see several other deleted folders.nope not there either.searches bring up nothing. Only option I see is opening a ticket with Microsoft, see if they can restore it somehow.Anybody have any other ideas how it could have disappeared and not gone into deleted or even the recoverable deleted bin that we also have access to.
Are you sure that somehow he didn't move it to a different mail folder on his mac? Its been a while since I touched a mac, but I seem to remember it being pretty easy to get mail off of your server and into a local folder, would explain why you can't see the contents from your pc when given access to his mailbox. Have you looked through the client on his mac to check?
Microsoft office 365 for mac nonprofit. Still, those would show up in the list of recoverable items though. You've tried webaccess? I've seen.ost hiccups that keep a folder from being displayed correctly, but again that doesn't explain why you couldn't see it from your pc with access to his mailbox. Don't suppose you're doing any kind of O365 backups are you?
Hello, i was very happy with using Office 2016 preview but i needed to use migration assistant and after that, it don't work. I still get can't load visual basic for applications message and office crashes. I tried remove based on steps for 'complete removal office 2011' but it still don't work.
I had a client with the exact problem. A folder in his mailbox just 'went away'. I figured the same thing - he accidentally moved or deleted etc.
But he was sure he hadn't. I looked everywhere for it and could find no sign of the folder or its contents in any folder, deleted items or in recovering deleted items. He had a few missing items that would cause him serious pain if we couldn't recover them so I contacted support. If you can actually call it support.
It took them a few hours to get back to me initially but after a quick few questions and connecting to the computer so he could 'point' out where to look he told me they would have to assign an engineer to look into it and get back to me. Two days later I received an email from 'support' with instructions from the engineer to use eDiscovery tools to put a hold on the mailbox and to see what happened to the folder. Only problem was that the customer hadn't subscribed to and didn't have access to the eDiscovery tools he wanted me to use and I'm not sure what good a 'hold' would do days after the fact? Kind of hard to use tools that are not available to you. I suspect there was something lost in translation between the support agent and the engineer because what they wanted me to do made no sense at all. I explained that to the support guy and he 'updated' the ticket and said he would get back to me. 3 days later I got an email that they had tried to contact me by email and phone and not heard back so they were closing the ticket.
I never did get an answer from them but I was able to recover his missing folder by restoring his Outlook cache from a backup and then disconnecting his computer from the network before booting up Outlook. I then just started Outlook 'offline', exported the folder to a.pst file. Then I restored his most recent cache file and reconnected him to the network, opened Outlook and then imported the missing folder. All back to normal.
I have only contacted Office 365 support twice and both times were a joke. The moral of the story is if you do Office 365 you had better implement a backup that you have control of and don't expect any help from Microsoft if there is trouble.
If you have backups of the local Outlook profile it may be worth a shot to give what saved me a try. You can see my still other experience with their 'support' here. Hello I found this thread, because I have exact issue with Outlook for Mac and Exchange 2016. One particular user have dissapeared emails two times, after moving from one folder to another.
After first time I enabled ediscovery, so after second time I found the items in DiscoveryHolds (after search-mailbox was done). Can't investigate source of the problem, but I have to leave a trail in the Internet, that something is wrong with Outlook for Mac (it haven't happened for thousands of my users on Windows yet).
