Steam Save Files For Civ 5 Mac
All steam files including most game data files are located on the G drive. However I noticed a few games, Fallout 3: GOTY and Dishonored for example, are saving files to the C drive. In order to expand the.civ5mod files into a format that the game can read, you need to download a file unarchiver like The Unarchiver on the Mac App store and extract to your mods folder under documents/Aspyr/Sid Meier's Civilization 5/MODS.

Type comments, everybody knows that PCs are better for gaming but some of us are stuck using an apple device for various reasons. If you're using a mac, I got your back. You know how even though steam workshop doesn't work on Macs, the workshop files will still download after you subscribe to them?
I found where they download, and I've been using this to get mods from the steam workshop even though I use a mac. I found the files under/library/applicationsupport/steam/userdata/87954279/ugc/referenced, and under that last folder there should be whole bunch of folders with long strings of numbers in the title containing.civ5mod files. In order to expand the.civ5mod files into a format that the game can read, you need to download a file unarchiver like The Unarchiver on the Mac App store and extract to your mods folder under documents/Aspyr/Sid Meier's Civilization 5/MODS. Your security preferences will probably automatically disallow you from expanding these files, so go to your system preferences, go to security & privacy, and look for an 'open anyway' button near the bottom of the page. It should then extract to your mods folder no problem.
