How Do You Move A Video From Built In Memory To Mac For A Canon Vixia Hf10
Hi, We just picked up a Canon HF11 and it's been great. The only problem has been that we can't see the movie files when we connect it to the laptop. All the still images show up when we plug it into the apple laptop, but no movies. Is there a setting on the camera that we need to change to make the movie files visible?
The movie files play on the Camcorder and on our LCD monitor. The Camcorder is set to play movies when we plug it in. We installed the Canon software that came with the HF11. Connecting USB. It's using internal memory, not the sd card. Added movie files to playlist (if it makes a difference).
Don't have easy access to windows pc to see if it will work on that. But we need it work with Mac. I am used to using ipods, digicams and other portable storage devices with pc, but this is for my brothers apple. Any advise or help will be greatly appreciated. EDIT: OK, it seems that though it has sw for mac(viewer), it does not have imagemixer software for mac in the box. It seems that is the sw pc users would need. Do they make it for macs too?
The Canon high-definition HF10 camcorder comes with plenty of storage options for saving recorded video footage. It features an internal 16GB flash drive along with an expandable SDHC memory slot that takes a removable, high-capacity SD memory stick. You can transfer footage recorded onto the camera.
I'll keep looking around, but if anyone has some answer, plz post. Click to expand. The important points here would appear to be: (1) The HF11 is supported; (2) which version of iMovie do you have?
(3) Are you attempting to import clips from the built-in memory or from a memory card (I'm not sure why this would make any difference)? Here's the link to the full article:.
Scroll down to the part with the subheading 'Importing and Editing clips using Apple Intel Mac OSX computers, Windows/Vista and Canon's DW-100 USB DVD Burner.' Incidentally, I've heard anecdotal reports of iMovie refusing to 'see' camcorders when there are stills images on the card / memory. Perhaps import and delete the stills first and try again. Not straightforward. I also did not get any clips to show up when I plugged in my HF-11 to my iMac and iMovie 08 software (7.1.4). It was as if my properly connected camera was not seen by my iMac. This has never happened before with any of my previous cameras.
I opened the HF 11 screen to see what it showed me after selecting the playback icon on the side of the camera. 'Select the device type for the USB connection.' 'DVD burner - PC/Printer' Wasn't sure which to select as neither sounded appropriate. (Didn't want to burn or print) When I selected the DVD Burner, which was highlighted by default, and pressed the joystick, I was asked to plug in the power adapter, even though the battery was not empty.
But iMovie kept having my iSight camera emerge in iMovie with no capture pane showing. I then tried the PC/Printer choice, selected and pressed it with the joystick and finally the clips showed up in iMovie.
All the clips showed up but only an 'Import All' was available at the bottom of the screen. On the left hand side is a a choice of Automatic or Manual. Move the switch to Manual.
Then some check marks show up beneath each clip. You can 'uncheck all' and then check only the few you'd like to download. Also disconnecting PC Connect was a mystery. You will not be able to turn off your camera.
Your screen reads 'While the Camcorder is connected to a PC do not disconnect the USB cable or power source' You must first eject the Canon icon on your desktop. Then disconnect the USB cord. The you can then shut down your camera.
Many of us have digital camcorders around. And, it is increasingly popular these days to live stream up to the Internet using services like. How do we merge the two together?
The easiest option is to use a regular webcam, either connected via USB or built-in (as with most laptops). But, what if you want higher quality?

The lens on almost any camcorder is going to be of higher quality than the typical webcam. Better glass quality and higher apertures mean the camcorders will produce better imagery and better low-light performance. You don’t need an expensive camcorder, either. As I said, almost any camcorder is going to produce better quality video than a webcam. So, how can we use our camcorder as a webcam? If you have an older MiniDV camcorder (the kind that uses the little mini tapes), then chances are it has built in Firewire. In this case, you can plug the camera into your computer using a Firewire cable and, in most cases, it will then be able to deliver a live streaming video signal to the computer.
